You might have more luck at xda developers or ppcgeeks. The HTC HD2 would be the closest WinMo analog to this, so you might ask if any ROMs for that have been tested on the Desire. I personally would be reluctant to try something like that, but to each his own.
Most android/winmo hobbyist work has been in the opposite direction. Getting Android to run on old WinMo devices.
