Wjat's the most genuinely frightening 80ies lead villain?

Mumm-Ra's transformation used to be a little hard to take when I was a younger child, there was a lot of lightning and eerie screaming going on and the music playing during the whole ordeal was a little creepy, but it was also very awesome and Mumm-Ra was probably the BEST villain in an 80's cartoon in my book.

Hopefully is Thundercats has a revival they do him some justice. :p
 
I was always pretty partial to Samhain myself, but then I'm a Halloween junkie.

For pure visuals alone, I don't think you can beat a yellow skull. Skeletor only makes himself less scary by being so hilarious in personality.
 
Boogeyman was kinda scary, but I think the Grundel was worse. Considering the Grundel was created to try and warn kids about pedophiles the character really is repulsive and scary, unlike most 80s villains who always had some silly elements to them. The Grundel looked like a mash up between a pedophile and a demon.
 
I had heard the Boogyman hyped up before I saw the episode, so I was kinda dissapointed.

Anyway, I'm not going to say he's the scariest, but back in the day I remember being just a little scared of Doctor Claw, mostly because not only did they never show his face, but they never showed anything else about him, either. Was he even human? Why does he have that creepy, modulated voice? Why did they not show his face? Was it too scary for children's television?

Of course, there had to be that terrible action figure and the stupid movie to show off exactly what he looked like, but I like to pretend they don't exist.
 
I was actually creeped out by Cobra-La in GI Joe:The Movie (especially when they talk about turning the world into snake-men). Yeah, i know most people hate Cobra-La but still they did do the scary thing right.
 
I remember Boogyman from The Real Ghostbusters, he had a really creepy voice that just sounded so sinister that I can see why many kids would have been really scared by him. He looked all freaky too and had a huge face with large red lips and a weird body style to him, just the kind of villain you want to make a story about when dealing with ghosts. Genius. :p
