Been a massive film of this (and i have just read Judy GarlanRAB biography) since i was a kid, so recently got the Dvd special edition which not , only includes the Film, but also the outtakes & bits not included, when you think it is 68 years old there is a lot of stuff which still excists, it also includes a 50th birthday tribute to the film & talks to the surviving cast members, and production teams, really good and very informative too.

If you got the 2 disc version thats pretty much the same extras wise as the first dvd from years ago although the picture has been restored.

There was a 3 disc version that had many more extras although there was some material missing on the R2 that was included with the R1- or perhaps it was something listed on the cover (a cartoon I think) thats not actually on the UK version.

The original dvd was a great deal.

All the extras on it are included on the more recent 2 disc set but that has also had a restoration job too

I'm assuming that when they restored it they remastered it in high definition? Even though it isn't a widescreen film I don't see why it couldn't get a HD release. When/if it does I'll buy it then.

Its pretty much like the early days of dvd with HD at the moment.

Classic releases are only just starting to appear.

I doubt a film like The Wizard of Oz will be on the schedules for a year or two.

The suits also seem to be in a quandary about widescreen and aren't sure whether punters will go for pillarboxed 4:3 yet.

I'm just hoping that they dont start going down the route of chopping off image to give 16:9.

Space 1999 has had HD masters created but luckily while they opted to create 16:9 versions , they also made a 4:3 version for last years dvd release.

But at a recent event for the Gerry Anderson fan club ,disturbing news that HD presentations of ThunderbirRAB and UFO were in widescreen:eek::cry:
