I happen to live in the town where one of the classic scenes from this film took place;

"We want the finest wines available to humanity. And we want them here. And we want them now"

So, to my question.
You wouldn't have the slightest clue that this cult masterpiece was filmed here (or parts of it)
and I think it would bring in fans who would like to partake
some quadruple whiskies and a pair of pints in the King Henry.

What do you think?
 
I fell in love with that film in 1988, (at the risk of sounding conceited) before it was truly popular.....

My local video store had one copy in stock, it wasn't readily available; I must've worn the tape out I hired it out so many times.......

Of course, a few years later, it was readily available in HMV, etc as the film got the recognition it deserved..... my wife bought me the DVD the other year which naturally had some decent bonus features to satsify Withnail afficianados....

I went the same route as you (wearing the film out) before purchasing it for myself. It's also one of those films where the commentary is as funny as the film (I usually find them pretty boring) ... it's one of those films that I never get tired of watching. Since putting up this post I've spoken to a number of people in town about the classic scenes that were filmed here, and they had never heard of the film :eek: :eek:

Sshhhhhhhhh.....I say :D

Braveheart was filmed in Scotland and we had a few drinks with the star himself in the Gairdner's Airms right here in sunny Glesga. :D ;)

Now there's a film and remembrance of us wee folk participating to put in your pipe and smoke it. :D
 
I tried to find this on DVD a few years ago so am pleased to stumble across this thread i had this film saved on sky plus for months but someone deleted it :( *Wonders off to the HMV website*
 
woohoo, mine arrived this morning too! Shame the box has been slightly dented en-route but nothing too serious. Can't wait to get home and watch it!
