I am a chronic pain patient who is withdrawing from OpanaER. It is a morphine-based long-acting narcotic. The reason I am stopping this medication is because I am having horrible GI problems and it is not doing anything for my pain. My GI doctor is writing a note to my Pain Management doctor that he wants me to discontinue this med.
Here is my problem. I called my Pain doctor but the office closed early on Friday and will not reopen until Tuesday. So, I have no instructions on how to stop this medication. I asked my pharamicst and she told me to take it slow. BUT..they are time relaased so I cannot cut them.
Here is my medication schedule:
OpanaER, 20 mg (2x per day..one in the am, one in the pm)
Hydrocodone 7.5/325mg, 4x per day
I stopped my morning OpanaER three days ago. I have felt very little to no withdrawals so far. I want off this medication right now, but am afraid to stop it all together.
So my question is this. Do you think I can stop my evening OpanaER and be ok, withdrawal wise? Is the hydrocodone taking my withdrawals away?
Thanks so much!!!
