I was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago... Did Chemo and things are stable. Anyway I've been taking vicodin (about 10-15 5mg a day) for two years and Xanax and celexa for my horrible anxiety and the vics for head pain. Well I admit I've been abusing the vics and Xanax so I've quit them both cold turkey. I'm on day 2 and I feel like I'm dying. I cry constantly and my head is killing me and I don't know what to do. I'm a single mom and on disability. I have 20 flexeril and I'm wondering if these will help? Just for a few days? I have no doctor to talk to and all the er's around here hate me and just think of me as an addict and so I have nowhere to turn. Please help!

See if there is a phone nuraber for NA, or call the area substance abuse center.

You have to be really careful quitting xanex or you could die.

I see you are from Mn

Call Hazeldon Tx center 800-257-7810 You need REAL help ASAP

I agree with pupcake. Quitting benzos cold turkey is VERY dangerous. You can have seizures (even death) if you stop abruptly.

The safest way to stop taking opiates and benzos is to taper. You can do a rapid taper from the opiates if you wish, however you will still feel withdrawals.

I strongly suggest you continue taking the xanax and go see you doctor in a few days. Collectively, the two of you can figure out a taper that is safe and effective.
.
Once you've established a plan for the xanax, start a new tread I'm sure there will be plenty of people to help you through the challenges of withdrawal from the vicodin.

Keep in touch, continue posting, and let us know how you're doing.

I'm taking the Xanax again... But the withdrawals from the vicodin is so terrible. I haven't eaten in 4 days and I am so sick. I don't know what to do!!:(

How much xanax do you regularly take?
Do not cold Turkey this unless you have not taken it long at a very low dose!
This has the potential to make vicodin withdrawal seem like a picnic on a beautiful day.

Honestly, I say this with respect. If you are able to type here after 4 days, stick it out.
On my fourth day, I would have drank the mercury in the computer to get high (I know you cant get high off mercury, only deathly ill) but type on one, no way,

STICK IT OUT, YOU MAY BE ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES TO GET THRU THIS OKAY.
