With the election of barack obama do we still need to discuss race?

Due to the fact that he was elected because of race I think we still need to work on that one!

Yes, we do.

Barack Obama is but one man. He does not speak for all African Americans, all Latinos, all Asians, all Africans, etc.

All you have to do is read some of the questions and responses out here to know that there is still a lot of work to be done on race relations in this country.

Of course we don't, but the left seem to keep bringing it up. My problem isn't with the color of his skin, it's because he doesn't have a clue how to run this country. He (with the support of his chronies) seem to be on this big spending spree and you and I, as well as our children's children, will end up footing this gigantic bill.

So you see, it's not about race (for me anyway), it's about knowledge--or in Obama's case, the lack thereof.

Race in general should still be discussed about in terms of every one being equal. I personally have no issue with discussing race as it has historical importance in the U.S. Not discussing it and ignoring all together isn't going to make racial tension disappear. Discussing race, in a sense, is necessary and unavoidable.

Its clear that some people still make race an issue, when its not. But you cant change the minds of bigots. Its sad yeah, and I cant stand when some people say racist statements on here, it shows they cant make a good argument.

I also cant stand when people troll on here pretending to be staunch republicans and say very racist comments. I think thats pathetic.

Sadly yes. Its unfortunate that so many minorities feel they are still suppressed by Society, when its not true.

And sometimes its sickening, because some minorities use this to their advantage.

Since Obama was elected partly because of his race. I believe it is still an issue. There are a lot of people who think that those of us who oppose Obama do so because he is black; while that may be true with some people, most of us who oppose him do so because of his politics. I would not support any President whether he be black or white or mixed race, who promotes socialism.

No we shouldnt mention race at all. We should be judged on character alone. But sit on yahoo and those the lost in the election constantly bash Obamas color his looks and so on. So I agree 100%
Those that do mention race are always the white republicans.
