With N93/i N95 SmartMovie not needed!

Hey guys, somebody asked about this, but I was planning on putting a thread about it. Older phones like N80, N70, N91 head problems with MPEG4.

I would only play with real player the MP4/H.263.
But many MP4 were in the MP4/AVC format. So when you would try to play with real player it would not play. That's why Smartmovie was needed.

But now with the extra processing of N93,N93i and N95 they play this MP4/AVC natively with any problems, heck it's got so much power that it plays the 640x480 content from the net just fine at full 30 fps.

So if you have any of these phones, I don't see the reasons to get the SM, I still have mine as I paid for it, but now I can play them straight from my gallery. Only downside is that it doesn't show a preview, plus it shows a "broken" icon. But it will play just fine.

I wonder what I'm gonna do with Smart movie now?

blue.. What about quicktime mp4?

while this is good news to some, i think sm has obvious benefits still, such as resume play and the file size reduction. at least imo.

i dont even use smart movie for my n73, i just use super converter (thanks to a fellow hofoer who helped me, THANKS) and those converted files play on real player without a problem at all. perfect.

Yeah, smartmovie's interface is 10 times better than real player. What I'm wondering is if smartmovie will handle divx files without conversion.

I've often wondered that, but 1. Don't have enough room on my card or 2. enough patience down use SymTorrent to get a whole tv show or anything.

Plus, why would you want to? The whole point of smartmovie, imo, is that I can take a 700+mb movie and cram good video quality down to 70mb on my phone.

The built-in real player can be paused, forward and rewind.
As for conversion you can use the Free Super encoder found here: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

righ, but should the app exit, with Realplayer you have to sit there and figure out where you left off. With smartmovie, it automatically resumes where it left off. big deal to me if i'm in the middle of a movie

I totatlly agree, DIVX mobile kinda looks like smart movie, but it is more refined.

right, a minor inconveniece considering the real player is free.

Well, I wouldn't use my phone for 700+mb movies. I prefer using it for tv shows.
350mb/175mb files aren't too big and you can easily get them on and off not thanks to the mass storage profile.

It would be nice to not have to down convert them.

I uploaded the file, download it here: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=batch_download&batch_id=QlVqRE90WkJWRDgwTVE9PQ
