I everyone! First I wanted to Thank ya'll for All the advice and for sharing your experiences with the Endoscope procedure. It helped soo much!

I had my Endoscope done today. I will admit I was a Nervous wreck. lol. I was so scared about the IV since i've had bad experience before with getting one.
The nurse that put it in Was soo amazing. She could tell I was scared and was so sweet and patient. She sprayed my hand with some nurabing stuff and then gave me a nurabing Shot and then put the iv in. SO much easier and less painful then i've ever experienced. the only complaint I have w/ today was the 2 hour wait I had between getting there and getting the scope done.
I wasn't able to get the Spray that Suppresses your gag reflex due to me being allergic to the stuff that is in Sucrets sore throat meRAB. I guess it's about the same stuff in the spray? It turned out Ok though. I got my Happy Juice as the nurse called it. lol. Vercid. and off to la la land I went. I do remeraber gagging a bit during the procedure but I was so doped up I didn't even care LOL
Everything went Great! My Esphogus (sp) is Normal and fine. ( Praise God) and my stomach looked great, other then some Gasteritis (sp) I guess I had a few spots that Could turn into Ulcers if not treated. But the DR told me that he was Not concerned by anything he saw. Praise God again!
I was so glad he talked to my husband about all this too cause I don't remeraber much about him talking to me. lol. I do remeraber asking him if anything looked like Cancer and he said "Oh no no no" so that was a HUGE relief! Praise God!
So i'm to keep taking my Nexium but he wants me to start taking it more toward the evening instead of morning since i've been getting a little reflux later in the day. I'll try it. And said I could take a pepsid or something like that too if I needed/wanted.
I'm so Thankful that everything went so great. I was so nervous about all this and God sure carried me through.
Thanks so much again everyone!
And anyone who is never had it done but going to. Don't be scared it really is a very easy and painless procedure

So happy it was not too stressful and the results are normal! It makes it easier to put up with these symptoms!

Thanks for posting this. I am going to have one soon for LPR which I know I have, but Protonix seems to have stopped working after 5 years. I hope my results are like yours. And I am very scared of the procedure too.

Nothing to be scared of, I promise. I am the biggest winnie when it comes to any type of medical procedure, and the endoscopy was a piece of cake. The only part of it that hurt was the amount of money I had to pay since my insurance covered very little (I am self-insured). It was well worth the expense, though, to have peace of mind. It did not cure anything, but at least I knew I did not have cancer.

the procedure was like this for me:

1) I was told to lie down on a bed, and they put an IV into my hand. This IV is meant to make me drowsy & relaxed.

2) Nurse placed some jelly into my throat and told me not to swallow and just leave it at the back of my throat for about 5 minutes or so.

3) Then I was told to close my eyes for a second, while they escorted me to the operating room.

4) The doctor sprayed some liquid in my mouth. Then he installed some kind of mouth brace to make the inserting of the fibre scope easier.

5) I was so drowsy as to remeraber the procedure but it felt like a minute or so.

Since i didn't any kind of biopsy, I felt fine that whole day after the procedure, and had no restrictions as to what I can or can't eat.

Isn't it funny that we all feel awful but every test we get comes back completely normal. It feels like our insides are burning up but every image every test looks perfectly fine. go figure.
