Wisconsin Preliminary Hearing. What will happen here?

My sister was arrested for theft and identity theft. She stole a co workers debit card and used it totally $527 i believe. She was caught through video survelience and the co-worker of hers that she stole the card from knew it was her through the videos. She was arrested and had an interview with cops admitting it was her, all that jazz. The reason she stole the card was to pay rent and to buy gas to get to and from from work. I know it was stupid, she knows it was stupid, and she feels extremely bad for it, but needed to make ends meet. She has a preliminary hearing soon and is very curious as to what will happen to her. She has a prior record of theft a couple years ago but it went through as a differred judgement. She is hoping to get this felony dropped down to a misdemeanor and possibly try for another differred judgement. She is extremely scared to go to jail because shes honestly just starting to get her life on track, shes going back to school in a couple months, etc.
What will happen at her preliminary hearing? Will she be going to jail right after it?
