Wiring two Kicker L7 8" subs--1 ohm or 4 ohm?

I have two Kicker L7 (08S8L74) subs which have two 4-ohm voice coils per sub. They will be installed in a sealed .55 cu (per chamber) box and driven by a Rockford Fosgate Power T10001BD.

Kicker L7 stats:
450 watts RMS.
83.6 Db Sensitivity.

T10001BD stats:
710x1 Watts @ 4 Ohms
861x1 Watts @ 2 Ohms
1268x1 Watts @ 1 Ohm

My question is: would it be better to wire the subs in a 4 ohm configuration or a 1 ohm configuration?

I have heard that a 1 ohm load degrades the sound quality. Is this true and is it noticeable enough to avoid a 1 ohm setup? Also, in this scenario the speakers would be grossly overpowered. Is this something I can compensate for with a lower gain setting to avoid damaging the subs?

In a 4 ohm configuration the speakers would be underpowered and with such a low speaker sensitivity they might need all the power they can get.

I'm looking for tight bass that complements metal and rock, not something that knocks my rear view mirror off at 30hz.

Thanks!

You'll probably get better SQ from the 4 ohm load. The 1 ohm load will be over powering them, and the 4 ohm load will be under powering them. So it's entirely your call. You can wire it both ways and see which you prefer. Just remember to keep the gain low if you wire to 1 ohm because it'll be over powering!
