Wiring interior LED lights, need to find a 12v power supply....?

I'm going to install some interior LED/neon lights into the footwells of my car, mainly cus my interior light is broken so i cant see! Anyway, i want the lights to be fused/powered in such a way that they come on when i turn on my lights or open the door, anything like that so they arent always on. Any good descriptive help would be appreciated for 10pts!
 
If this was me doing the install I would use a basic 8 or 10g speaker power wire from the battery as the power source, while using a relay wire connected to the factory relay for interior lights to come on. The hard of this would be finding a wiring diagram for your car to find that relay wire.
