Winter season 2009/2010 season

Key shows? Such as Air, Clannad, and the like? Those shows barely have any fanservice at all.

Anyway....

Durarara!--Interesting. I'll check it out.

Dance in the Vampire Bund--I'll give it an episode.

So*Ra*No*Wo*To--Ya see, this one looked pretty good until the music mention. Either way, I'll still check it out just for the hell of it.

Hanamaru Kindergarten--Ha, you kiddin' me. Kindergarten? Get the hell ou--hold up, Gainax?

Nodame Cantablie Finale--Nah.

Katanagatari--How awkward....I might try it out.

Qwaser of Stigmata--I don't have anything against fanservice. Breast milk, though? That art looks pretty badass, though....I'll give it a shot.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu--No.

Hidamari Sketch--SounRAB extremely plain.

Harakanaru Toki no Naka de 3--Wow, nice name. I'll give it an episode, just cause it looks feudal.

Hidden God--Meh, no thanks. Maybe if I'm bored one day.

Rose O'Neill's Kewpie--Lolwut?

Omamori Himari--I'll check it out.

Ladies Vs. Butlers--Once again, if I'm bored.

Chu-Bra--SounRAB mindless. I'm gonna check it out anyway.

Meh.....I don't see myself being blown away by much anything except, possibly, Durarara! Hope I'm wrong, though.

Qwaser of Stigmata, judging by the manga, is really, really dark. It has a lot of science talk like acid hitting water or something (I skipped chemistry), but the breast milk thing is related to the Virgin Mary. Yeah, the backstory of the series is religion and heretics.

Basically, if you're used to Berserk during the religious arc, this is similar.

Dang it. Now I have to put it in the "Watch one episode" list. Darn your convincing post of actual interesting plot....I hope....

I think people here judge too harshly just because there's bewbies. Sora No Otoshimono was an ecchi show, but it was a good show regardless. It didn't really even have that much ecchi in the big picture, and the finale was awesome.

As for Qwaser of Stigmata, yeah there's a few bathing scenes every now and then in the manga, but partly it's because its mandated and partly because it neeRAB a break from the horrific acts. You know, the ye olde "rape, pillage" part of history. The studio has to really screw up hard to make it a pure fanservice show.

So...how much longer to the new season of Shin Mazinger again?

Spring 2010 FTW at this rate because you know it's bad when of all the new stuff, the only good part of one is a breast milk fetish.

I'm actually just now watching it because I saw some of the pics of the finale on Random Curiosity and was like "Okay I'll watch twelve episodes of fanservice to get to that." Plus it's on CR anyway.
It was the uncut trailer that really got to me. I'll try to be neutral.

It's difficult for me to see fanservice in the same light as I used to. I used to not have a problem with it at all and I still really don't. But it must be because after sitting through 12/13 episode adaptations focusing on pure fanservice and stereotypical character archetypes, I've gotten...bitter. Maybe I need to be more experimental like I used to be. It's just that I don't want to watch like six episodes to realize a show isn't getting any better and by the end think "Well that was six or so hours wasted."

For example, currently I'm watching NEEDLESS. It's loaded with panty shots, innuendo and near-nudity angles but I don't care because it's awesome (to me). I consider the fanservice just a little icing on the cake. On the other hand I just finished Nogizaka Haruka's Secret: Purezza. It was very boring because, ignoring the fact that it was turning into a harem, it had too much service. So much so that the charm from the original season was just about lost and I no longer enjoyed it like I used to (since they like killed the plot)

[strike]Then you have stuff like Eiken...[/strike]

We should make a fanservice discussion.

Meh, Fall 2010 is where its at man, Bakuman gets an anime adaptation FTW (sure thats the only fall 2010 anime i know of, but still).

Well, I did warn you guys!

To me, there are so many shows out there that it isn't worth sticking with crap out of a vague hope that it'll conjure up something halfway decent. If you're having to overationalize a show or wait for the last 30% to find something worthwhile, that means something isn't right.

I don't really know the source material, but I'm not feeling Vampire Bund. Sure, it looks pretty, and the nudity is not explicit. This much is well and good. But...eh. I liked Saya from Blood+ but Vampires and me have generally never been very compatible. For a series that's supposed to be about a vampire that wants to coexist with humans, the main character sure seems to act like a stereotypical one. She's murdering soldiers and sucking some poor lady's blood at the end of the trailer. If the goal is to humanize her somehow, the show has its work cut out for it. I'm very skeptical that it can be done.

The plot reasons notwithstanding, Qwaser still strikes me as a write-off. Trailers are supposed to pitch a show, and when Qwaser is offering breasts up front without apology I can't help thinking that it's simply compensating for deficiencies elsewhere. I don't see a good reason to put it in front of the slew of other shows I want to get through.

I still think Katanagatari could be really cool; the quality of production seems quite solid. I mean, there's seemingly no gimmicks, just a well done martial arts action show. I'm in for that.

Meh, Qwaser at least uses the Eastern Orthodox church instead of the over used Vatican & Catholic thing. Oh yeah, the science magic some of the characters use to fight with looked cool in the manga, in a FMA kind of way (just not as logical)

Staying away from Ladies vs Butlers because it seems like the same old same old fan service wise. Le sigh; the studios are sticking with the lowest common denominator, the almighty T&A to make thier money.

Random has their preview of the Winter season up, complete with PV's and videos galore:

I'm still not going to get over that.

"From the studio that brought Evangelion and FLCL, directed by the same as Gundam 00 and Fullmetal Alchemist....Kindergarden chibi slice of life!"
