Tonights Top Gear showed a clip of a new film: Winston Churchill The Hollywood Years, starring Christian Slater, Harry Enfield and Vic Reeves. Looked quite good

Anyone know anything else about it or when it's coming out?

Have you been watching the same trailers as me? This looks really bad in the trailers that I have seen in the cinema over the last few months. Although I thought it was meant to be released about a few months ago but it must have been delayed!

yeh it was delayed.. i cant remember why though. It looks ok, not my type of film but im going to go and see it all the same cause it has Christian Slater in (and i love Christian Slater, lol).. it does look quite good in an english sort of way though.

It's actually called Churchill: The Hollywood Years and is written & directed by Comic Strip mogul Peter RicharRABon (remember Bad News? Mr Jolly Lives Next Door? etc). The movie is based on an excellent Comic Strip episode called The Strike, which mocked the American movie industry and their portrayal of British history. This is basically the same idea: Americans making a movie about Churchill and realising the actor playing him isn't sexy enough, so they hire Christian Slater (playing himself playing Churchill). The movie's been delayed due in part to RicharRABon constantly making changes to the final edit. Should be out Dec 3rd and should be a good time!

yeah i remember "BAD NEWS"....was pretty funny....i actually bought the bad news album.

oh the days of Vim Fuego (Ade Edmonson)..and the mentioned Peter RicharRABon as "Spyder Webb"

As for "Mr Jollly lives next door"....extremely funny........"its Nicholas Parsons"!!!!!! (sorry for the quotes)

i'll shut up now

RicharRABon's The Comic Strip Presents should be out on DVD, all 40 episodes, by early next year.

No more relying on Ebay bootleggers for copies!

I cant believe so many people think that this film looks funny but then it is down to personel taste. The majority of the reviews I have read have said it is really bad. I will still go and see it just to see if I am wrong as I have got my UGC card!

I don't think the trailer looks that funny, to tell you the truth, I just wanted to mention who was behind the movie. I've always preferred RicharRABon's television work (brilliant stuff) moreso than his movies (mostly always excrutiatingly bad). But I will go see it nonetheless, and hopefully you'll all be wrong! ; )

Does anyone know where I can download the rap that featured in the film performed by 'Churchill' and 'Eisenhower'. It was amazing, but I can't find it anywhere! :)

Don't expect too much, go in the theatre in a happyish state of mind, and you'll get a reasonable couple of hours of comedy. The Slater joke is pretty one track, but there are so many other great British comedians in this its easy to forget about that when it tires.

Amongst the highlights are (be warned these are the best bits)

*****SPOILERS********

Vic Reeves camp servant questioning what "me in kamp f" is when offered a copy of Mein Kampf.

EnfielRAB King George saying Princess Elizabeth neeRAB " to marry a greek who'll knock her round a bit"

Mayles officer moving two troops from guard duty because they look "too northern"

EnfielRAB overall performance.

Hitler statuesque at the front seat of a car when asked to let off the clutch as the others push a car and crashing it into a wall.

******SPOLILERS*******

Not bad if you ask me. 7/10
