Windows Tablet PC compatibility

I just bought a Tablet PC. Then found there was an update for the T5 i own. Upon getting ready to download i read that Palm does not support the Windows tablet PC version on any product. Is there a way to go around this? I havn't received the tablet PC yet, so i haven't tried to install to it. Does anyone know anything about this and/or a solution.

This will probably only add to the confusion. Palm does not support Win XP Media Edition. If you do a search in the forum you'll find various people that have successfully used an WXME edition device with a Palm, myself included with a T5. However, you'll also find people that have never successfully been able to sync.

Now I can not attest to a Tablet version but assuming a few things here is what I'd suggest.

If you are given an option to boot the device in a "simple" mode, in WXME you can tell it to boot without loading the Media Edition program, then you may be able to get it to recognize the Palm. However, some of this is also hardware dependent and so it may be that your Tablet drivers include recognizing the Palm.

I don't think that you'll get a consensus from the forum as most people probably don't have a Tablet PC and a Palm........personally I think it would work but you may have to try those boot suggestions - if they are even an option?

Unfortunately, I am in the same boat. After purchasing my new Tablet PC [Toshiba Satellite R25], I discovered that it won't sync with my Palm Z22.

Funny thing -- before i installed the Palm software on the PC, when I connected via USB cable, it recognized that I had connected a Palm device. Now that the Palm software is loaded on the laptop, it won't even recognize the device.

Has anyone had recent experience with this (I see last posts in this thread were from 2006)? My Tablet is now my only computer, and I have nowhere to back up my Palm!

Any new info from anyone?

Thanks and peace

I just bought a Palm TX and have a Tablet PC. I am going to try to take off the Palm software and reinstall it in simple mode? I don't really know what I'm talking about but I do seem to recall that flashing across my screen at one point... Let me know if you have any luck.

Nick --

I've had success!

Here are a couple of threads that may help you out:

The idea to turn off Advanced Text Services (instructions above) is what seemed to work for me.

After trying that, I managed to install it, and now I can use my Palm z22 with my Tablet PC running Windows XP, without a problem.

Let me know how it goes.
