Windows media player problems?

I put a blank disc into my laptop and yes it is for music... and whenever i click on "burn CD/DVD" it just says "error in burning disc" or something like that..
Whenever i try using windows media player or drag and dropping stuff onto the disc it doesn't work. ONLY windows media center works.

Any reasons why this is happening?
after i format disc i still have the same problem.

Before you can burn files onto a disc, you have to format the disc.

Right click on it, and choose format.
