Windows Media Player for ipod help!?

how do i get music from WMP (windows media player) to my ipod? I've tried three times by:
1: Picking my song
2: Copy to CD or Divice
3: Picking my (name)'S IP (G;)
4: Copy onto my ipod

but when I check to see if my song is there it doesn't work! please help!
iTUNES IS NOT WORKING FOR ME PEOPLE!!!
