Windows Media Player doesn't recognize my sansa view?

For over a year now I have been using both Windows Media Player and my Sansa view for my music. Just recently Windows Media Player has stopped recognizing that my device is plugged in when I connect my Sansa to my computer through the USB port. I'm not very tech savvy when it it comes to the details so I have no idea what is going on. Any help is appreciated, thank you.
I only have one USB port, my computer is a toshiba, I use windows XP.
