Windows Media Player 11 Help!?

I am using Vista Home Premium and Media Player version 11.

When I try to start Media Player I get the following message:

"The file wmploc.dll has a version number of 11.0.6001.7004 where 11.0.6001.7000 was expected.

Windows Media Player is not installed properly and needs to be reinstalled."

Media Player then goes to the windows website and gets the "appropriate" upgrade download. I've downloaded it but this
suggestion does not fix the problem.

I have tried downloading Windows Media Player 11 again, but it comes up with this error when i try to install it:

"There is a more recent version of Windows Media Player (11.0.6001.7004) already isntalled on your computer. It is not possible to use an older installation package (11.0.5721.5146) to install files or to repair your current version of the player."

Does anybody know how to repair this error?
Thanks!
Also, I have tried deleting WMP from my computer ( (C:) > Program Files > Windows Media Player )
But It says I need permission to delete the folder. Even though I am the administrator of the computer (I'm the only account set-up on the computer).

So I can't delete it and install it again.
How do I uninstall it?

I can't find it in
Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>
Windows Media Player isn't in the Control Panel > Uninstall..

I've searched for it in there using the search scan and it can't find it, I've looked manually too and I can't see it..

i dont know a solution but get winamp media player its a million times better than windows player

you cant delete it coz its pre-installed the only way to get rid of it is through the registry and windows updates ,

dont mess with the registry unless you are a professional , you will cause more damage than good

turn it off from start programs and tasks and forget about it you wont know its there

get winamp
