Windows Media Player 11 crashes when playing DVDs?

Windows Media Player 11 on my Acer Laptop has been able to play dvd's since I got it. Now though it continues to be able to play all files, and cds, but when I try and play a DVD it gets about 5 seconds in before a traditional "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to close, send error report" error opens. Any ideas?
