Wind deflector for road glide

Put mine on last night and can tell a difference. I have a windsplitter that I will be replacing with a windvest soon. Cant wait to see how that combination works.

If you had the tank mount recall done, I'm pretty sure you will need to modify the mounting bolt so the deflectors will snap on. Another guys on another site did this and he said it worked. With these only being $30 bucks, I may give it a try.

I case you didn't read it already Grillfish, the lowers you have make a lot of difference too so YMMV since I don't have lowers (yet).

Of course, IIRC, the flaps were actually introduced on the 2011 RG Ultra too so my commentary might be bogus. Oh well... I'll offer it anyway for what it's worth.

ok. put the x-stream back on last night and took a 150 mile ride today. intalled the new wind deflectors on my 09 roadie and it helps but not much. keep in mind i also have hogg chopps. it did settle the wind at about 70+ on the interstate. i have had this bike for almost 2 years and have been thru 5 windshields. stock (pos), clearview (ok), windsplitter ( not bad for summer but can't hear tunes on highway), klockwerks (absolutely the BIGGEST POS), and the x-stream. the x-stream is BY FAR the best improvement. by adding it, hogg chopps, and the deflectors, i have finally reached rg nirvana. roll down the hwy at any speed and hear the radio (without it turned to max.), no buffeting, and minimal air noise. still enough air to know its a bike though...ride safe

Can you provide some details or post a link to the other site that describes the modifications that need to be done? I'm pretty heated right now that I went and got the HD recommended recall and now it sounds like it is going to screw up my possible install of these!

OK, so I cheated and looked on the other site. Essentially you need to replace the 1" x 5/16" cap screws that hold the fuel tank tabs in place with 1 1/2" x 5/16" screws. You'll also need a nylon spacer with a 3/4" OD, 5/16" ID that is 1/2" long. I also added a washer at the end. Put the washer followed by the spacer onto the 1 1/2" x 5/16" cap screw and reinstall. You'll no longer need the rubber covers that protected the old cap screws. The top clip will now snap onto the spacer. I'd also recommend a little blue locktite. I got the screws at the local Home Depot and did a bit of redneck engineering with some differnet nylon spacers I bought there as well. I believe you can buy the proper spacer at Lowe's. Just for fun I drilled a hole in the deflector close to the bend at the top of the highway bar and secured the deflector with a black tie-wrap.

Unfortunatley it's raining so I can't weigh in on the effectiveness of the deflectors on my 2010 RG, I will be sending the Motor Company my receipt from the Home Depot.
