Hi all
This is my first time posting. I have my written MRI report and conclusion and I am having a very difficult time understanding what it all means. Here is the conclusion so if anyone can translate the findings to me I would be so grateful.

CONCLUSION:

1. Multilevel degenerative disc and facet hypertrophic change.
2. No central spinal stenosis at any level.
3. Neural foraminal narrowing that is moderate on the right at the
L2-3 level and on the left at the L5-S1 level with mild neural
foraminal narrowing at other levels as delineated.
4. Multiple Schmorl's nodes and discogenic marrow change,
particularly at the L1-2 and L2-3 levels.

Hoping someone can help me out to understand .

Thank you so much
Sheryl

Hi asheryl

"Multilevel degenerative disc and facet hypertrophic change"

this means you have arthritis in your spine, hypertrophic meas there is some extra bone formation in your joints this usually first occurs around the margins of the joint. The facet joints are small joints towarRAB the back of the vertebral body that limit and guide joint motion.

"No central spinal stenosis at any level."

stenosis refers to a narrowing of the spinal canal, it can also mean a narrowing of the neural foramina, you have no narrowing of the spinal canal, that's good.

"Neural foraminal narrowing that is moderate on the right at the
L2-3 level and on the left at the L5-S1 level with mild neural
foraminal narrowing at other levels as delineated. "

the Neural foramina are grooves toward the rear of the vertebral body that the nerves course out of L5-S1 is the bottom vertebra and the sacrum, L2-L3 is the fourth joint from the bottom

"Multiple Schmorl's nodes and discogenic marrow change,
particularly at the L1-2 and L2-3 levels"

Schmorl's nodes are when the top or the bottom of the disk bursts and part of the tough outer casing of the disk forces its way into the vertebral body.

good luck asheryl

Thank you so much olddog66. Sure helps to hear the results in plain English.
