I have bad anxiety attacks, I have been in the army 8 months....will i get discharged if i get evaluated and found to have anxiety?

The only reason that you will be discharged is if this condition affects your ability to do your job. In today's times they have many medications that will help with this that will not require you to be discharged. Mental health issues are often seen as a black mark in the military and leadership is working hard to combat this image. They give us free health care so don't be afraid to use it if it will help you out. I'm sure that you have received many briefings on this issue at your unit. The biggest thing is to be proactive about it. It looks better on you if you go and get help voluntarily than to have someone in your chain of command "direct" you to go and get help. I hope that this helps you out.

Depending on what your job is and where you're expected to do it, yes. Especially with only 8 months into your contract. It would be a medical discharge and wouldn't look bad on your record for future employment.

Look, if your anxiety affects how you perform your job you're going to be out. Even if you can control it with meds you may be out because meds may not always be readily available where ever you're expected to work and the military will not want to put you (and other soldiers) at risk that way.

it depends on how severe ur attacks are and if u can control them... if they are really bad and they catch them then u will be medically discharged
