Will you be buying HD-DVD or blu-ray for movies?

Licence or not, it looks like LG are pretty serious about this.
Thing is, now it's public knowledge that dual format players are on their way, who's going to want to buy a single format player?
I suspect there will be a brief slump in the HD market as people wait. This should drive existing player prices down.
Ultimately though I think the whole HD thing should accelerate now that LG are lighting the way for us mere consumers!
 
This dual player was actually announced by LG almost a year ago.

But by the Summer it was cancelled.

Samsung had already tried and failed to get a DF player out there.

My bet is that this is LG trying to mount pressure on Sony and Toshiba.

We the public know that unless one format gives in a dual format player is required for the HD disc market to go anywhere so the manufacturers must also know this.

The player is to be demoed at the CES this week.

Of course once the buzz starts spreading interest in the HD disc formats may gain momentum,but at the same time a market for single format players will die on its arse.

Thats why I can't see either Sony or Toshiba agreeing to it.

Surely if these dual players had been officially sanctioned we would have heard something loud,not least of which would be from LG,not just an online ad on a discount chain website
