Will Verizon Wireless flash my phone or will they make me get a new phone?

I recently got a new phone with Cricket and I'm moving across the country. The location I'm moving to doesn't have cricket service and whenever I travel there, I get no signal. So, my aunt is making me get verizon once I move and said I may have to get a new phone. Do I have to get a new phone again? I really don't want to and I love my phone that I have.
