Will tuning up my car help it's gas mileage?

I burnt a quarter tank of gas and only drove about 40 miles or so. That doesn't seem right for a Mazda Protege. Will tuning it up do anything for me? I'm lost at what to do.

It deppens on how long its been sence it has been tuned. If its been over 20,000 miles it will help
