Will tighting bands in trans. fix high gear shifting 01 Dodge pkup 1/2 ton 5.2 L

What causes overdrive drop? My truck will not shift into over drive or high gear. no change when I press over drive button. Before would be run about 70 mhp 2100 rpm and over drive would drop out. over drive off light would come on. Now it just wont shift up
 
well sounds like you lost it and really overdrive should shift at like 45 so it sounds like it wasnt working right for a while couldbe a switch bad but more likely trans bad Dodges do have trans problems has well as rear end problems
