Have Been with Julian Assange? Not since bin Laden became numero uno on the FBI's Most Wanted list have we seen Western intelligence and law enforcement so jacked up. The world's judicial machinery has kicked into the highest of high gears in the effort to nail Wikileaks leader, Julian Assange.
The key piece of paper that triggered get this kind of hyper-attention seems to have been a Swedish arrest warrant filed with Interpol. After that happened it was only a matter of days before Assange was behind bars in Great Britain.
Now we get to see if the same system works the same way when the perp is a real big shot -- Dick Cheney. Because it looks all but certain that Interpol is about to get another arrest warrant, one for Cheney: "Former VP Cheney Charged by Nigerian Government.
According to a UPI article on December 9th, "Charges were filed against ex-U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and Halliburton leaders, accusing them of paying bribes for contracts, Nigeria officials said....The charges arose from an investigation that is part of a long-running case involving Halliburton and its one-time subsidiary firm -- Kellogg, Brown and Root -- over an alleged $180 million in bribes paid to Nigerian officials to secure $6 billion worth of contracts for a project in the Niger Delta, the spokesman said.""
So, let's see if the world's gumshoes are as frisky with getting Cheney behind bars as they were with Assange. (Stop laughing!) Oh, and Assange does not admit to breaking any laws. On the other hand Bush and Cheney have admitted on TV that they tortured captured terrorists. Torture, if I am not mistaken, is against international law. No one has submitted an arrest warrant to Interpol for those crimes -- yet -- but this Nigerian bribery business will provide a dry run on Cheney at least.
