Will the Tmobile G1 function normally if unlocked?

The device will function as normal. Not sure if tmobile will do it for you they should but there should be websites out there that can help you for a small fee. I know verizon unlocked one of my cell phones when I went to Japan last Summer.

i want to buy the Tmobile G1 and i would love to know if i could still use it ordinary if i unlock it? like if the apps will work, text messages...etc. thank you. if i call Tmobile will they unlock the device for me since i will be traveling to Europe in summer..thank you
