Will the sims life stories work on a mini laptop with a DVD drive? Please help!?

Hello,
I have a Freedom by Zoomstorm mini laptop, my dad has recently got his mate at work to get me a DVD external drive for my laptop.
I want to play the sims life stories on it, will it work?
Please help!

(the sims life stories is laptop friendly, does that mean it will deffinately work?)
