Will The North Face Heckler backpack hold my 17-inch laptop?

Will The North Face Heckler backpack hold my 17-inch laptop? It's a Sony Vaio 17-inch, to be exact.

I need a backpack for college that will fit my laptop. I'm looking into either the Heckler or the Borealis. But my research on the internet is giving me conflicted answers.

Does anyone own the Heckler or the Borealis? Can you fit your 17-inch laptop in it?

The only one I'd trust is the Targus bag...I have the same sized Vaio, and there's no way that it can be squeezed into a smaller sized bag. Given how prone the Vaio is to knocks and bumps, I'd suggest that a backpack may not be the best answer (setting down the backpack, for instance - if you're storing the Vaio left-hand side down, you'll be putting pressure on the CD-DVD drawer).
The Targus is a good case, was fairly cheap in the UK (given our prices) and has had a lot of wear and tear and has done well. I'd seriously recommend it.
