My Dad's bonuses are smaller because the business he works for is not profiting as much. In the early 2000s, his bonuses would be a lot bigger. In the year 2008, there was not one new shopping mall built in the USA. In the year 1996, there were 120 new shopping malls built in the USA. In today's economy, everyone can get their dream job. Hopefully, the economy will get better, but how will the recession change the american culture?

There have been worse times.
I hope the current economic crisis teaches us to live within our means.
The culture of gluttony , waste & greed is a product that has been "sold" to the public as being a "good" thing.
Overspending to "have it all"is good for the sellers but it is quicksand for the buyers.
Our grandparens knew how to live ; debt was a shameful thing to them & they knew what hard times were really like.
Expectations of never ending economic growth need to be replaced with efforts to have sustainable economic stability.
