Will the fish be safe ?

I spoke with an expert at the pet shop because I have fish problem. Okay, so problem is, one of the two is turning white (it used to be orange-yellow) and the other one has like a red spot thing on his right fin (or that thing that helps it to swim around, I'm not sure how its called). So he tells me to use it, but before that, take out the active charcoal from the filter. So I take them out and put 10ml of Melafix. Then, some stuff come floating in the fish tank, so my mom freaks out and starts yelling at me, telling me they were okay before putting melafix and stuff. So, I guess my main question would be :

Will the fish be okay, without the active charcoal and the stuff floating in the air, but with the 10ml Melafix in the 20gallons fish tank per day ?

Melafix is a great product and helps with fins being torn.

On the other hand, it sounds like your fish may have whats to be known as "fin rot" (look it up) and the red spot might be a hemorraghia

A great product along with Melafix is "TANKBUDDIES fungus clear" by Jungle and "TANKBUDDIES parasite clear" by Jungle. Both will fix both fin rot, mouth rot, ick, blood, etc. etc.

They work great and its 1 tablet per 10 gallons

in all the 2 products will cost 3.24 x2 plus tax at your local walmart

Again, melafix will not kill your fish. If they do die, its not the product, you just were too late to save them....
 
OK, this would be more helpful if you would tell us the species of the fish ;) Some fish are actually dyed different colors, mostly tetras, and will turn white over time. Others will look whiter when stressed/sick.

The white stuff is most likely just food flakes that weren't eaten and were then sucked into the filter. When you took out the charcoal, it disturbed them and they floated out. They will be cleaned up shortly.

The Melafix won't hurt the fish, and the charcoal will impede the working of that medication, so it is good that you removed it. Just keep up with cleaning and water changes and hopefully they will heal.
