Will THE DARK KNIGHT beat Titanic's record?

Yes, it's amazing how many movies made during the last 10 years are the most financially successful ever. Adjusting for inflation and factoring in population/theater count increases to give meaningful comparisions between time periods is too nerdy and lame. It's almost like these lists are utterly meaningless and just used for marketing.

If they just compared number of tickets sold instead of $ made, wouldn't it be easier to keep track of what movie was bigger at the box office?

The speed at which ticket prices go up makes it impossible to get an idea of which movie does better.

What would be cool is if someone would go fetch me a link that says how much Titanic brought in each week it was released so that we could compare the momentum.

Adjust for ticket price AND inflation... ticket prices have risen faster than inflation lately. Or better yet, get the total number of tickets sold and compare.

Can anyone find a link to someplace that actually does this?
