Will the CLIQ get Android 2.0?

I have the MyTouch 3G and returned it because the battery life was awful and texting on a screen was a nightmare because the MyTouch could only handle 1 letter at a time.

I got the CLIQ and was so excited, but the battery had to be charged twice a day and that was with very limited usage. It would be fully charged at 8am and i would send a few texts and browse a few sites & it would be 20% battery life left at 12pm. Thats INSANE! So i returned it and heard there was a recent over the air OS update, but its not 2.0.

Also the email feature on the CLIQ is awful! I wish it was like the Blackberry where the email comes in 2 seconds. Instead you have to manually check or set the phone to check every 15 mins etc. Also every email i sent was never in the sent box. Am i doing something wrong? How do i turn off MotoBlur? Can someone please guide me?

2.0 will come in time..everyone can't expect a mass ota for all android phones...it just came out and still needs to keep its exclusiveness for a while on the droid...don't know about turning off blur but as far as the messages go it should be in your sent box..try clearing th cache and then see if they start to appear there...did u gain any battery life at all from the ota? thats what its main purpose was for

I sent the phone back because the battery would die twice in one day after being charged twice a day.

I dragged all the Motoblur icons off the screen in hopes it would save battery power. I am not familar with cache. Can you assist?

I just cant stand the battery dying so quickly. Also i couldnt copy & paste text messages.

Also the Android OS is just very clunky & takes 2 long 2 exit out of things. Not as fast as the Blackberry. Can someone please help me. Anyone who has a G1 and has seen it evolve please assist.

Get a g1 man. Battery isn't as horrible as it was, and its still the best phone out right now. Its 1up on anything right now. Even if the hardware is a little over a yr old, its still a ridiculously smart phone.

Have you done any research on this topic? The battery life on both the G1 and myTouch 3G destroy the Cliq. All you need is a task killer and they'll both easily last all day. Before you start bashing phones, do everyone the simple courtesy of reading, please. Also, MotoBlur cannot be disabled. You can only refrain from inputting your accounts, that's all. I'd get rid of the Cliq if I was you.

you definitely have a bad battery. make them exchange it at the store. I use my cliq all day for email, facebook, web surfing, pandora, etc. and only charge it when I go to bed

which email are you using? Gmail, corporate sync, email? if you are using an exchange server, it should push to you immediately. imap and gmail will ping the server every few minutes to check for mail.

oh, and no manufacturers or carriers have announced when/if phones will be updated to 2.x. But there are several rumors that all contradict each other.

you all obviously got bad hardware! my battery life is twice that of my G1. I have yet to run down the battery and I use it constantly between 6:30am and 11pm. No BS! This was before the update too!

No, its not a bad battery its the lousy Android operating system.

I heard with the new update that the Motoblur can be turned off. I didnt sign my accounts up for any of that MotoBlur nonsense. I dragged the icons off the screen & was under the impression that it was gone.

Email is a mess. I use all PERSONAL email such as Gmail, AOL & Yahoo. No work email whatsoever. However, the AOL & Yahoo come quicker than the Gmail does, but it still doesnt come as fast as a blackberry. If i send an email from my AOL to Yahoo via a desktop computer - it arrives on the Blackberry within 2 seconds. If i send it 2 the CLIQ it can take up to 10 - 20 mins for AOL & Yahoo. Depending on what mood the CLIQ is in. And forget about GMAIL. I sent myself an email from my desktop computer and it arrived the next day. (Bare in mind i have the phone setup to check every 20 mins).

I dont understand why the Blackberry email integration is so good.

The threaded text message is nice, but you cant copy & paste text which is annoying.

Anyone else have any ideas on saving battery life, or is Android OS just a battery killer.

I don't know what you all are doing with your cliq but my gmail comes right away to my phone the cliq is far better the my blackberry 8320 I had and for copy and paste for text msg just hold it down and the copy and paste will popup for you and the battery life is really good I only charge when I'm sleep and I'm on this thing all day with music and web I'm just waiting for the 2.0 update but that might not even be that good because if you read the reviews in the market place a lot of the good ones don't work on droid 2.0 yet so do a little research before you start bashing the cliq

Regarding 2.0 I think we will see it in time with an overall blur update.
Maybe once a new blur enabled phone is released. My battery is average to say the least, I use it from 10am and it needs charging by 11pm, and I use the phone a lot!

Does the newer OS version use any more system resources? i.e., will future releases be more taxing on hardware? I ask because I wonder whether that will be an issue as new releases come out in the next few months given all of the phones with pre-version 2.x on them.

haha your telling me. ive been a sidekick user since 03 and finally jumped to the android (g1) and boy was i living under a rock thinking my sidekick was anywhere near up to date as these droids are. thats coming from a sidekick lx 09 ex user.

I know what you mean , If i need to thought I usually long press on the message -> Forward and then select all the text.

a bit of a pain but it gets the job done
