will texting 6MONTHBB on an existing sim give me blackberry messenger?

I'm planning to get a Blackberry Curve 8520. I already have a SIM card from my old phone which is on T-Mobile Pay As You Go. All i want to know is, if i insert my existing SIM card into my new Blackberry and then text the 6MONTHBB thing, will it give me the features such as BBM and internet or is there a step i am missing out OR, will it only work with the SIM they are giving me with the phone on PAYG T-Mobile??
