Will Rice University accept me?

I am applying as a transfer student at Rice. I dont understand why Rice is asking for my SAT and ACT score as well as my High school transcript. Anyways I have completed 42 credit hours at a community college and my GPA is 3.71. My SAT score is 1210 and my ACT score is 18. Do you guys think it is worth applying to Rice with these results or is it just a waste of money???? Let me know.

The only way to know is to go for it. I'd suggest retaking your act and sat. Your scores aren't so high, you can definatly do better now that you have more schooling (if you're able to).
 
dude, when you start small dn't go big. start big finish big, start small stay small.. its like when a smaller state is trying to tell a bigger state how to deal.. way back when New York would of never listened to Rhode Island, and i assume the community college accepts a 18 act score. dude, don't bother choose a college within the guidelines, maybe they don't allow your college credits to transfer. which taht is what it sounds like... so sorry dude, do better on the scores
 
It would be a waste of your money and their time.

Rice is an elite school. It does not deal in CC rabble.

How about trying Prairie A&M or Texas Southern Universities?
 
Any college you apply to is going to ask you for that kind of information. I don't know what Rice's application procedure is so we can't say for sure if you will be accepted. The only way to know is to apply.

Just an FYI, my husband applied for a job about a year ago and they wanted references (names) of his high school teachers. He's been out of high school for about 18 years so it was hard for him to even come up with names much less phone numbers. You never know what employers or colleges are going to ask for.
 
Yes, I think you should apply. If you don't try you will never know if you could have made it. In spite of the ignorance of the first 2 answers there is nothing wrong with going to a community college and then transferring to any university you want.
