Will putting custom songs on my Gutair Hero 2 game effect the disk or my ps2?

I have Guitar hero 2 for my ps2 and i want to add some custom songs. I found a video and directions on how to do it but im still wondering if putting the custom songs will effect the game or my ps2 in anyway. So help
