Will Photoshop Elements 8 slow down my computer?

I recently got PE8 for my birthday and I'm afraid it will slow my computer down. I have a Pentium (R) Dual CPU processor at 1.86 GHz and 1 GB of RAM. I can add more RAM with a flash drive because I have Windows Vista. My main concern was the processor speed. Is there any way to fix this problem, or is there even a problem at all? Thanks a lot!
 
it will be slower i would suggest more ram, i have a 1gb comp and it can run elements but its slow as a fat kid rolling down a hill.
