Will one poppy seed make you fail a drug test?

Cat is correct, I just wanted to give you an example. I was the general manager at a deli and one of our specialties was a poppy seed cream cheese. The shop was very near a heavy construction company & the men were always in getting sandwiches, etc. One man failed a random drug test and, sure enough, his favorite sandwich contained the poppy seed cream cheese. The deli had to write a letter to the company and send a sample of the cream cheese as well. Luckily the man was able to keep his job.
 
One seed...no.

A poppy seed bagel or muffin (both of which contain many, many seeds) - quite possibly. Drug screens for opiates is usually very sensitive. Unless the test is using a 2000ng/mL threshhold, one bagel or muffin can indeed cause a positive test.
