No, your power bill will not double. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office recently issued a report on the costs. After various cost-saving measures are taken into account, the American Clean Energy and Security Act (Waxman-Markey) will result in an average $175 YEARLY cost per household. The poorest households will actually save $40 per year, while the increase for the highest-earning bracket will be $245 per year.
This does not include the money saved by possibly avoiding climate-related problems (droughts, hurricanes, etc.)

Obama is only doing what he does best, lie. The Democrats under him are too stupid and star-struck to challenge this useless piece of legislation that is designed to destroy businesses, create massive job losses, send industry and manufacturing packing. All while we get to pay anywhere between $1,200 to $4,000 a year just in electricity.
Imagine freezing your butt of during the a nice 10 below day in winter, and find it's too expensive to heat water for a cup of hot chocolate. But even the hot chocolate mix will be ten bucks per envelope because the company that made it is getting hit with multi-million dollar electric bills instead of paying only tens of thousands.
Imagine other institutions like a big hospital. Obamacare is not going to cover the costs of energy a big hospital uses.
This is a really stupid idea and all for one of the biggest lies and hoaxes forced on the American public. I refuse to give in to this crap. There's nothing wrong with the weather or climate and Al Gore and all his sheep are a bunch of whiny dumb asses who believe this bullsh** and that's what it is. Idiots! I would NOT rely on any figures given by the "alphabet" networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, etc.) regarding the economy-busting "Cap & Trade" bill now in Congress.
You can look forward to:
50% increase in the costs of gasoline, natural gas, and heating oil.
90% increase in cost of electricity (as electrical generating plants are forced to abandon coal and switch to natural gas).
The poor will have to do without and freeze in the winter. ALL people residing in the northern portion of the country and the midwest will be the hardest hit, and those living in the southern portion will also be affected, if not to the same degree. The middle-class will become the new poor.
And what for? Even at it's best, should all the Kyoto protocols be believed and acted upon (hear the sheep bleating yet?), the most it would do would be to lower the Earth's average annual temperature less than one-half of one degree, while crippling the U. S. economy and turning us into a 3rd world banana-republic.
I find it hard to believe that even THAT would occur, since it the SUN that provides the Earth with it's climate changes, along with geo-thermal forces at work within the Earth itself (what caused the warming periods between all of the previous ice-ages?).
Anyone that believes the BS about their prices becoming lower at anytime in the future have their heads up their rectums, bleating at their hemorrhoids!
