Will my TV with a broken built-in tuner work when I use a converter box?

I have an old (but not too old) 27' CRT TV. And its built-in tuner isn't working anymore.

Now the thing is, will it work when I'll use a digital tuner/converter box or when I'll subscribe to comcast/directv?

Or do you guys have any suggestions that would help?
