I'm freaking out about my SAT essay. The question was, "Can reality entertainment be harmful?" The little box talked about people getting pregnant, etc. I didn't use modern examples, but my thesis was that "reality" entertainment can be harmful because it can make people easily influenced and give them a fasle sense of reality.
1: 1984. MiniTru used movies and shows (or so I said), to make people believe what the government wanted to believe, and used the example of the war with Eurasia to show that people disregarded the truth for scripted reality.
2. Germany in the 1930's. Said that the Nazis showed people documentaries of Jews stealing, eating babies, etc, and that fueled the genocide, and allowed the people to beinnocent bystanders.
3. Brave New World. The Feelies, or movies that they had the people watch. The movies shaped people's world view into what the society wanted, and it was harmful because these reality shows were used to maintain a caste system
