Will my PC game work though it only meets the minimum requirements?

So I decided to get Fallout 3 for my PC, but before spending $50 for this game I read the requirements for it. I checked my Computer and it met the recommended requirements of an Intel Core 2 Duo Processors, and the 2gb ram. The only problem is that the video card for the computer is compatible for the game, but the ram for it is only 256mb, when the recommended is 512mb ram for the video card. So I want to know, how bad the game would be if everything for my computer is for the recommended level except that the ram of the video card is only 256? Which is only the minimum requirement for the computer
