Mom of Twins

A friend of mine and I got into a discussion about how her son's going to have a great immune system when he hits school age because he's been in day care all his life (9 months), and every time he gets sick he's building up his immune system. He's had RSV, stomach bugs, etc
My twin girls have been sick twice, maybe 3 times, in their 19 months of life.
Even though my friend's son does seem to be sick quite often, it makes me wonder if maybe she does have a point that in the long run it'll benefit him? I can't imagine my girls going through RSV and all that, though.
And on the other hand, I really can't see where she's coming from. My grandmother raised me at home the first 2-3 years of my life, and after that I occasionally went to an in-home daycare with 2 other kids. I was never a sickly child. My immune system pretty much handles everything except the really bad stuff... but come to think of it I'm not sure I've ever even gotten the full-blown flu (never had a flu shot, either!)
Long story short, I just wanted to see what other moms' experiences are with your kids, preferably school aged. I'm curious as to whether environment has something to do with how strong your immune system is, or who knows... maybe it's something entirely different and it's all genetic. My husband and I rarely ever get sick so maybe we somehow passed on our immunity to our girls?
Just wondering, sorry this is so long!
