Will my honda civic run without a catalytic converter?

I have an 03 Honda Civic LX and I have been getting Catalytic Converter trouble codes. Will my car run correctly if I gut the catalytic Converter?

To correct the previous answer, removing the catalytic converter DOES NOT add power to a non-turbo car. It actually hurts performance because of the air reversion pushed back into the combustion chamber. A turbo in a car actually acts as a cat by not allowing spent gasses back into the combustion chamber.

Yes it will run---but no it will not run right. It will run just like it does now--with the check eng light on and cat. codes stored. You have an o2 sensor in the cat that detects if cars exhaust has the correct mixture of gases and will make the car run too rich or too lean if the cat. is gutted. It will run this way until it turns the light back on! Advise: as expensive as they are just spend the money to fix it right. GOOD LUCK

You can run your car without a Cat. The only downside is you're not likely to pass emissions which is the only reason you have a cat convertor.
Tuners rip out their cat convertors to gain more power.

Your car would be running illegally due to the emissions and if a policeman decided to pull you over and test it, you will fail and possibly get your car impounded due to not being fit for the road. Depending on what country you're in ofcourse
