Will my g.p.a in high school be considered when I apply for college?

This past year I got a 3.715 g.p.a, I was hoping to do better than that. I was hoping for more in the 3.9-4.0 range. It was mainly because I didn't do my homework until right before class started. I want to go to the university of Michigan, so how is my freshmen g.p.a going to affect my admission?

GPA is considered, but if you're aiming to get into University of Michigan it shouldn't be a problem. A lot of other elements are considered as well. These other elements include: essays, recommendation letters, community service, extracurricular activities, etc.
