Will my bicycle rust if left outside?

I'm going to college next year and have to have my bike there. Problem is I will have to leave it outside all the time because no room inside. It's a fairly nice trek mountain bike and i ride it and really love it a lot. I figure the chain and cassette may rust but i don't know bout the other parts. So if anybody has any tips or ways to prevent this from happening that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

yea all metal rusts but due to the paint on the rest of your bike it'll take a little longer. if you want to protect it from rusting go to the hardware store and buy some enamel Spray for metal it goes on clear and will protect it from moisture and rust.

Apply a light application of white grease on all non-painted items: sprocket, chain, cable connections, wheel nuts, etc. Apply a car wax on the painted parts and the exposed handle bars. If the seat is leather, use saddle soap or leather conditioner lightly to prevent weathering - drying out and cracks.
