will my betta cycle his tank himself?

i have had my betta fish for 2 days. he is in a 2 gallon heated, filtered aquarium. the tank was NOT cycled before i put him in. will he cycle the tank himself? and how long will it take? how will this effect his behavior?
 
Yes, he will cycle the tank himself. If you are using activated carbon I would replace it frequently in the beginning to help keep the ammonia and nitrites low. They are hardy fish and may do fine (although I don't recommend this method). Keep a close eye on your fish for signs of stress and disease.
