Well this depends on where you live. I do know that petunias are good for lots of color and tolerate heat well. Pansy's are another one for good color and interest and do better in cooler weather. So are geraniums. All three are very easy to grow in containers outdoors. They are very affordable plants and should give you lots of sucess.
